Meet Dr. Sonya J. Snedecor

Throughout her career as a mathematician and researcher, Sonya J. Snedecor, PhD noticed a persistent problem: talented scientists whose work was underappreciated because they struggled to communicate what they did, and why it mattered.

Sonya earned a BA in Mathematics from Hampton University and a PhD in Biomathematics from UCLA, eventually spending 17 years in Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) consulting. During that time, she worked closely with pharmaceutical manufacturers to demonstrate the value of healthcare interventions to payers and policy makers, where scientific evidence must support real decisions.

In this role, Sonya became known for her ability to translate technical research into clear, decision-relevant narratives. This ability set her apart from many technical experts, for a simple reason: researchers are rarely taught how to communicate science beyond documenting methods and rigor.

Today, as founder and Chief Simplicity Officer of Science Clarity, Sonya helps researchers change how they think about communicating their work. Not with presentation tips, but by providing clear frameworks researchers can apply directly to their own analyses, reports, and presentations.

Her work gives scientists:

  • Clear ways to define audience, purpose, and takeaway before developing content
  • Thought frameworks to structure any presentation or report.
  • Practical methods to identify and remove barriers that obscure scientific value.
